How are things going? I hope all is well. Summer is here and it's always interesting transitioning into it from the school year. The school year is fast-paced, intense, fast, and exciting! Summer is definitely exciting for different reasons but it is 100% a change of pace.
Resting has always been a challenge for me (I'm sure a few of you can relate). Resting isn't a challenge because of the many things that I can't seem to get off of my plate but it is a challenge because when I do rest I struggle with the question: well, what do I do now? Sometimes it feels like much of my life is wrapped up in the activity of doing things & doing stuff. In fact, if I'm not careful, ministry and the vocation of campus ministry can just become another thing that I do that distracts me from finding my rest in God.
This is something that I have known for a while but am feeling very challenged this summer to learn what it means & looks like to rest. Please be prayer for me about this!
The month of May (every year) is always exciting & sad at the same time. We get to see much of the fruit of what God has been doing throughout the year (exciting) while also saying goodbye to many of our students (sad). I hope that the pictures below are encouraging and are a solid reminder to you of what your support and partnership is going toward! Thank you so much for believing in our mission to reach students for Jesus on campus!
Our Wednesday, 1:30pm men's bible study that met throughout the school year! They built such a special & fun community on campus together.
One of our last Thursday Night Thunder meetings! It was such a great decision to begin these back in January. I'm grateful for the students that we met and the time we got to spend with each other :) So good!
Our 2018-19 Richland FOCUS leader team! So grateful for these students :)
For our end-of-the-year party, we catered Babes Chickenhouse and it was amazing! The food was great and the students loved it!
For our last Thursday Night Thunder, we did an awards ceremony, The Thunder-duckees! (Our campus mascot is the Thunderduck) It was a great time!
We gave out the award for student-of-the-year (male) to Jacob & Dayo! Both of these students exemplified growth and love in so many areas of their lives! Thankful for them!
Jesse did a great job hosting & leading the thunder-duckees! The students really loved him so much!
I got to spend weekly time with Jesse Bales - he was our Richland College apprentice and he did an amazing job. He's a great dude and really exemplifies the heart of Jesus in everything he does. He pushed himself and grew tremendously this year as he led core, met up with students & mentored them, all the while getting engaged! The students are 100% going to miss him!
Our FOCUS staff end-of-the-year dinner! It was a good time to share fun stories and say good-bye to our apprentices that are transitioning off of FOCUS staff. We're going to miss them!
Thank you so much for your support in what God is doing on campus!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I'm honored that I get to serve students on campus at Richland College & UT Dallas! My prayer & hope is that you are all encouraged and reminded at how faithful of a God we get to serve! Thank you for your support!
